Absolutely love this place.
The Earl of Lonsdale is a Samuel Smith pub with good and fairly cheap food and drinks made by their own brewery which is always great!
Big dining room with real fire places and old (the original) wooden snugs.
They have a big beer garden which is full of tourists and locals during the weekend.
But there is always a free table somewhere.
Great place to enjoy some pints with your friends on a lazy Saturday afternoon. -

While on vacation we stopped in initially for a pint and some food. The kitchen stopped serving food at 6 pm. We left in search of food, but returned later for that pint. The atmosphere was quite a mix. A quirky pub (loved that), a large restaurant room, and a lovely shady garden (great spot on sunny day). This is evidently a Samuel Smith pub, which means that's all they serve. The beer was average and the service regrettably poor. A woman who seemed very inconvenienced to pour two beers handled our order at the bar. Although the atmosphere was inviting, I was disappointed by the service and beer selection.

As a first time visitor to the UK, I wanted to try British food. I thought the fish and chips were really pretty tasty. Make sure you try the fish and chips with some malt vinegar. They also have a nice variety of fruit beers.

Just kinda had a weird experience here. It was packed so we waited for a while and it's a free-for-all to grab the right table. The layout of the place is confusing (the little door that full grown adults like me had to walk through?) which made it difficult to keep an eye on who was leaving. We finally found a table but then had to go around asking people for spare stools lol. People were seriously hoarding stools.
Then we went up one by one to order our food. I ordered a greek salad. The lady at the bar seemed to dislike me which is fine I guess . I was happy when I got my food like 45 minutes before my other friends who ordered before me. But then I was unhappy when my greek salad had no dressing but came with a side of ~just~ olive oil. Is that the authentic way of serving it? Well it sucks. I asked the bar lady for some vinegar which probably made her more annoyed at me, and told me all of them are on the tables in the other dining room. So I had to go into said dining room , which seemed significantly more official than where we were sitting, and ask someone for theirs This was about to be weird. Spoiler it was extremely weird. "Hey..sorry to bother you but can I take something from your table so I can put it on my food? How about one of your fries while I'm here too?" Anyways I got my vinegar and sort of kind of salvaged the lettuce with olives they gave me. My friends got their food like an hour later lol. 3 stars for the homey ambiance though! -

45 mins for the food to arrive. 10 mins to get a drink. Can't make sandwiches on weekends.
Also can't get a good review
